BRUSSELS – The major oil and gas corporations – of which ExxonMobil is one – have not had an easy time recently in justifying their record profits at a time when the price of energy to consumers is going through the roof and causing major hardship around the world.
ExxonMobil’s second quarter earnings in 2022 were $17.9 billion, compared to $5.5 billion in the first three months of the year, but at EDANA’s recent Circular Nonwovens Forum held in Brussels on September 22nd, it fell to José-Antonio Ruiz, ExxonMobil’s global product sustainability advocacy manager, to argue the corporation’s corner.
Not the easiest of calls all things considered, but nevertheless, citing a number of recent studies, Ruiz made some strong points specifically for the corporation’s plastics, as not only better than alternatives but actually products with considerable sustainable benefits.
