Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

TOKYO - Unicharm is to launch its Mamy Poko brand of sustainable baby wipes into the Taiwan market next month.

The premium, organic cotton-based wipes boast a number of environmental credentials including Standard100 from OEKO-TEX and FSC Certification, which certifies forests all over the world to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards. Products made raw materials from FSC forests are marked with the 'tick tree' logo, which means buying the products won't mean harming the world's forests.

Standard100 by Oeko-Tex is an international safety certification that is only granted to textile products, which have fulfilled the strict standards as a result of analysis and experiments covering more than 350 kinds of hazardous chemical substances. To use this certification label, all materials and chemicals used in the products are proven to meet high safety standards.

"Unicharm is striving to safeguard the promising future of babies by providing the safe and secure products and working very hard on the ORGABITS project, a sustainable activity that is friendly to our planet," the company said. "In 2019, we acquired Oeko-Tex Certification, proof of the world's highest safety standard, which was adopted to “Natural Moony”, a premium product in Japan. We are now launching Mamy Poko Premium Baby Wipes in Taiwan featuring a high quality product which is also friendly-to-environment."

ORGABITS is a project sponsored by Toyoshima Co which involves the theory of everyone contributing “a little bit by little” to the global environment through the use of organic cotton products.
