Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

SEOUL - Hyosung and sustainable materials specialist Geno are collaborating on the construction of a new plant in Vietnam, part of the elastane specialist’s strategy to invest US$1 billion in a bio-based, raw material supply chain.

The plans are for a 50,000 tonne, bio-BDO (butanediol) facility, a chemical traditionally made from fossil fuels and a major ingredient in the manufacture of elastane. Production is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026.
