Environmental news and technical  innovation in the nonwovens sector


With the acquisition of Belgian-based polypropylene staple fibre producer Exelto NV, International Fibres Group (IFG), headquartered in Bradford, UK, now has an annual capacity of  around 130,000 tons of polypropylene staple fibre and 10,000 tons of PP filament.

Owned by the Swedish Bronsstädet Group, IFG also consists of the UK’s Drake Extrusion Ltd., and Austria’s Asota, along with Drake Extrusion Inc. in the US. In the floorcoverings industry its fibres are used extensively in tufted and woven products as well as needlepunched nonwovens, as wall as in automotive, concrete, textiles and home furnishing products.

It is the largest supplier of coloured polypropylene staple fibre to the European market and also the largest supplier of coloured polypropylene to the US automotive market.

The acquisition of Exelto is part of IFG’s long term strategy for profitable growth and the company plans to use its position as the technical leader in polypropylene fibre production to build on Exelto’s highly efficient lass fibre production lines.
