Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

HOUSTON – Vortex Companies has acquired Applied Felts Inc, a manufacturer of Cured-In-Place-Pipe (CIPP) linings based in Martinsville, Virginia, from the UK’s WE Rawson.

CIPP is now a mature and well-proven technology as a cost-effective method of repairing failing underground pipework to avoid fully replacing it. CIPP products repair leaking, cracked and broken sewer pipes through an advanced internal insertion method that eliminates the need to dig or drill underground. The liners include two critical layers – a resin-impregnated needlepunched tubular nonwoven and an impenetrable polyurethane exterior coating.
