Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

Pantex International is to open its first plant in the Unuted States to support Pan-American customers with localised production.

In the first phase, the company, headquartered in Sulmona, Italy, will open a new plant in Simpsonville, South Carolina, to manufacture its cloth-like nonwoven top sheets, with an initial annual capacity of 150 million square metres. Future plans include expansion to a capacity of an annual 500 million square metres at the site.

This will allow the company to offer customers a wider product portfolio, including low cost custom stretch laminates for adult and baby diaper closure systems.

Pantex expects its site in the US to be fully operational by the end of the third quarter of 2015.

“This US investment will both expand the capacity of our successful products like cloth-like topsheets and also increase the speed at which we bring new innovations to our customers in the American hygiene market,” said CEO Gianluigi Fornoni. “It reaffirms our commitment to customers in markets where quality, custom solutions and innovation are the main ingredients for success.”
