Jacob Holm, headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, is to purchase the Sontara spunlaced nonwovens business from DuPont Protection Technologies.
DuPont was a significant pioneer in the development of spunlace materials before the wipes market exploded and many more systems were put in place around the world.
When it moved completely away from the manufacture of textile fibres with the sale of those assets to Invista a decade ago, it notably retained a number of high value fibre and nonwoven interests, including its Kevlar, Tyvek and Typar-branded products, in addition to the Sontara business.
