Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

STOCKHOLM – Having commenced construction of a major new plant in Taican in Jiangsu in China in December 2020, air filtration leader Camfil has now commenced operations at its new hub for molecular and particle filtration in Tainan, Taiwan.

The Tainan factory will support Camfil’s filtration growth in the semiconductor, life science, and turbomachinery industries and by producing locally, will help reduce shipping time from other facilities located in Asia. It will also adopt a sustainable reuse/recycle approach for many of ots filter components.

“Camfil is thrilled to announce the start of our air filtration facility that will directly contribute to our commitment to sustainability and promote reduced waste generation through recycling and reuse,” James Lin, Camfil Taiwan managing director,

The Taicang operation in China is expected to be fully operational later this year and will house four production lines for general ventilation filters, turbomachinery filters, molecular contamination control filters, and a new series for air pollution control.

This Taicang facility will also serve as a major research and development centre and design custom specific products for the Asia Pacific market. Filter testing will be according to ISO 16890 that defines testing procedures and a classification system for air filters used in general ventilation equipment.

“Camfil’s air filters and clean air solutions are some of the most energy-efficient on the market and help purify the indoor air and create more sustainable buildings around the world,” said Michel Moulin, managing director of Camfil China. “This new project meets high standards of safety, compliance and the increased production lines ensure safe environmentally friendly operations.”

The Camfil Group now has 30 manufacturing sites, six R&D centres, local sales offices in 30 countries, and 4,800 employees.
