Dave Rousse, INDAINDA believes there is a billion dollar opportunity for bioresins and biofibres as replacements for petrochemical-based raw materials in the North American nonwovens industry.

The biggest short-term potential for biopolymers – notably for PLA – in North America’s nonwoven mass markets is in in consumer wipes. This is a US$1 billion market of which the biopolymer has an opportunity of around US$350 million, according to the latest research from nonwovens organisation INDA.
