Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

arrowsSustainable Nonwovens summarises the major changes across the nonwovens and related products supply chain during 2015.

It’s been hard to keep up with developments at Avintiv – formerly PGI and now part of Berry Plastics – during 2015.

PGI became the biggest nonwovens manufacturer in the world following the acquisitions of Fiberweb in November 2013, and Companhia Providencia in June 2014.

The acquisition of Providencia took the consolidation of the global spunmelt nonwovens industry for hygiene to an unprecedented new level, while that of Fiberweb (formerly BBA Fiberweb) added to the company’s portfolio for primarily industrial applications, including filter media.

In February 2015 it was announced that PGI would acquire Dounor SAS, the French manufacturer of nonwovens for hygiene, healthcare and industrial applications based in Neuville en Ferrain, France, which operates six spunmelt lines with an annual capacity of around 40,000 tons.
