Environmental news and technical innovation in the nonwovens sector

So what’s special about V-LAP technology in terms of nonwoven properties?

V-LAP nonwovens have many special properties, but the most important are their flexibility in end-product utilisation. They have a range of advantages to offer a wide spectrum of industries.

In terms of their light weight-to-bulk ratio, for example, it’s possible to make materials that have a nice bulk and an almost spring-like feel and appearance, but with less overall weight, due to the vertical orientation of the fibres in the structure.

V-LAP is also able to utilise waste fabrics from clothing and carpet waste, such as regenerated synthetics like PET/PP. We now have several companies looking at methods for using recycled materials in a process and transforming them into value-added finished goods. In many cases, these assist in selling their current ranges of products. They can be recycled again after the life of the garment/carpet/bed and made into further V-LAP materials, almost in a closed loop, and creating little need for landfill.
