Italy’s first plant for the recycling of post-consumer absorbent hygiene products is now up and running at Contarina SpA, based in Spresiano TV near Venice. 

Speaking at EDANA’s International Nonwovens Symposium in Prague, Czech Republic on June 3, Marcello Soma, director of sustainable development for Fater, said the plant – with an annual capacity for recycling 8,000 tons of such waste a year – began operations a few weeks ago and would now go through a qualification period.
