As INDEX 14 in Geneva approaches, Sustainable Nonwovens Editor Adrian Wilson writes:
I’ve been following the development of so-called ‘drop-in’ biopolymers very closely over the past couple of years, because I think it’s the most exciting game in town, and I’m not alone – Coca Cola, Ford, Procter & Gamble and Nike, to name just four major corporations, seem to think so too.
In their simplest form, ‘drop-ins’ are just chemicals based on renewable resources that can replace those derived from oil.
What’s important though, is that they can simply fit into the existing manufacturing infrastructure at little additional cost, to provide sustainable benefits, comparable performance and even in some cases be cheaper to buy too.
