Four hundred jobs are to go across Ahlstrom’s worldwide operations as the company looks to save €50 million in costs this year and adjust to its new size and structure following the sale of its wipes business to Suominen Nonwovens.

For the first six months of 2014, Ahlstrom achieved sales of €253 million compared to €265 million in the same period of 2013, but operating profit improved considerably at €9.6 million compared to €6.4 million for the first half of last year.
