fvHaving acquired European recycled polyester specialist Wellman in November last year, Thailand’s Indorama Ventures will now acquire FiberVisions, the leading manufacturer of polypropylene for nonwovens.

FibreVisions has a global capacity of 221,000 tonnes, 117,000 produced in the US, 90,000 in Denmark and 14,000 in China.

“The acquisition of FiberVisions significantly enhances our position in the world’s most specialized fibres business for hygiene products and other growing applications,” said Indorama Ventures CEO Aloke Lohia. “As the largest producer of polypropylene fibre, FiberVisions complements our strength as the world’s largest polyester producer and together we will better cover customer needs in all parts of the world.”

Dr Stephen Wood, CEO of FiberVisions, said that customers and suppliers would not see any changes in their day-to-day interactions with the company and customer and supplier contacts will remain the same.
