Japanese partners have completed their business integration, creating a new materials company focused on high-tenacity recycled polyester filament yarns

Teijin Frontier to merge with Asahi Kasei

TOKYO – Teijin Frontier and Asahi Kasei Advance have completed the integration of their business operations and launched the combined business as TA Frontier Co., Ltd.

First announced in December 2025, the integration takes the form of an absorption-type merger, with Teijin Frontier as the surviving company and Asahi Kasei Advance as the dissolving entity. Teijin Limited holds an 80% stake in TA Frontier, while Asahi Kasei Corporation retains 20%; the company’s capital is ¥2 billion.

TA Frontier combines Teijin Frontier’s fibre production and product-conversion capabilities with Asahi Kasei Advance’s materials and trading expertise. The company says the aim is to build a stronger platform for supplying recycled polyester filaments and related resin products with enhanced performance specifications.

A principal technical focus is high-tenacity recycled polyester filament yarn. These yarns are used where tensile strength, dimensional stability and long service life are required, including technical fabrics, automotive interiors, reinforcement layers and industrial nonwovens.

For nonwovens producers, improved access to consistent high-performance recycled filament will support development of spunbond, needlepunched and composite structures where reinforcement and durability are important. The company is positioning the integration as a way to align recycled feedstock availability with process efficiency and fabric performance requirements.

TA Frontier will also pursue materials with additional functional properties, including flame resistance and improved mechanical performance. Such properties are increasingly relevant in transport and industrial applications, where suppliers face both durability and recyclability requirements.

The partners point to rising demand for recycled polyester inputs across nonwovens and adjacent textile sectors, driven by brand recycled-content commitments and regulatory pressure.

Teijin has highlighted growing uptake of recycled polyester filament yarns in industrial applications, including those influenced by the European Union’s End-of-Life Vehicles regulation introduced in 2023.

Beyond fibres, TA Frontier’s business scope spans textiles and apparel, industrial materials, construction materials, resin products, geosynthetics and environmental materials. The combined customer base and product range are intended to allow the company to offer broader solutions than either predecessor could provide alone.

The new company’s name combines the initial letters of Teijin and Asahi Kasei. In a joint statement, the companies said the name expresses “mutual respect and growth”, while “frontier” reflects an intention to develop new products, markets and value.

Susumu Kamata, president and chief executive officer of TA Frontier, said: “By bringing together the experience, technologies and expertise cultivated by both companies, we will deliver products and services with even greater added value to address the diverse challenges faced by our customers.”
