Carbios expands licensing offering to textile market

CLERMONT-FERRAND - Biotechnology company Carbios is to expand its licensing offering from the packaging to the textile market following the successful completion of production trial batches at its Clermont-Ferrand demonstration plant.

The company has been advancing the extension of its enzymatic biorecycling process to the treatment of textile waste rich in PET polyester fibres since 2025. The material, the global consumption of which in textile applications is estimated at approximately 67 million tonnes per year, represents a market nearly twice the size of the PET packaging market.
