TeijinSEOUL - At this week’s ANEX nonwovens show in Seoul, Korea, Teijin is showcasing environmentally-conscious functional materials manufactured at its bases in Japan and Thailand and sold worldwide.

These include Elk, its high-performance polyester cushioning material with excellent elasticity, breathability and durability, which can be used to replace PU foam in applications, including train car seats and mattresses.

The company will also display its Nanofront polyester ultra-fine nanofibres wit thicknesses of just 700 nanometres. Nanofront fabrics resist slippage and are delicate, comfortable, highly absorbent and opaque. Current applications include gloves, facial masks and oil-blotting paper.

Teijin’s Tepyrus polyester ultra-fine short-cut fibre is specially engineered for wet-laid nonwovens and used in products such as wallpaper and filters. It is made entirely from recycled PET bottles.

Also being featured at ANEX is Pyromex flame-resistant oxidized polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fibre, which offers outstanding flame, heat and chemical resistance and electrical insulation for electronics applications such as heat insulators.
