Borouge opens new recycled polypropylene plant

SCHWECHAT - Borouge International, which has been working on a route to chemically recycle plastics from used baby diapers back into new polymer feedstock in Europe, has begun operations at a new plant in Austria.

The company, which has started commercial operation at its speciality polypropylene compounding facility in Schwechat, Austria, has been working with Woosh and BlueAlp on an industrial‑scale trial that converts plastics recovered from used baby diapers into ISCC PLUS‑certified pyrolysis oil suitable for new polymer production, including hygiene applications.
