California signs-off diaper chemical disclosure bill

Legislation requires manufacturers to disclose intentionally added ingredients in children’s diapers sold, distributed or made in the state

SACRAMENTO - California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed legislation requiring manufacturers to publicly disclose the chemicals used in diapers.

The legislation follows testing that shows many diapers are made with ingredients linked to health and environmental concerns. These include phthalates, which are linked to hormone disruption, and bleaching agents, which can cause skin and respiratory irritation.
