EU green light for Suzano’s Kimberley Clark deal

BRUSSELS - The European Commission has approved Suzano’s proposed acquisition of Kimberly-Clark IFP, concluding that the deal will not significantly impede competition in the European Economic Area (EEA).

The decision removes a major regulatory hurdle for the transaction, which links Suzano, the world’s largest pulp producer, and Kimberly-Clark through the creation of a multi-billion dollar joint venture focused on the manufacture, marketing and distribution of consumer and professional tissue products, such as toilet paper, napkins, paper towels and facial tissues in over 70 countries.
