Flame retardancy for electric vehicle batteries

TOKYO - Asahi Kasei has launched a new nonwoven material that can be used for enhanced battery safety in electric vehicles.

Flame-retardant and highly flexible, Lastan is described as an alternative to conventional materials for thermal runaway protection. It can be utilised in top covers, busbar protection sleeves, and other applications within the EV battery pack.
