Carbios agrees Turkey recycling plant deal

Carbios’ patented process uses engineered enzymes to depolymerise PET back to its monomers

CLERMONT-FERRAND - Biotech firm Carbios has struck a deal with Turkish synthetic fibre specialist Sasa to build a PET bio-recycling plant in the Adana region of Turkey.

Under the terms of the letter of intent, the plant will use Carbios’s disruptive enzymatic depolymerisation technology, which enables the efficient and solvent-free recycling of PET plastic and textile waste into virgin-like products with the aim of achieving ‘true circularity’.
