London - UK retailers, charities and underwear brands have come together to urge the government to remove the 20% VAT that applies to period pants – a reusable period product.

To date, the ‘Pants to the Tax’ campaign, led by retail giant Marks & Spencer  and period pants brand WUKA, has more than 70 signatories, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Mountain Warehouse, and reusable period product and bodycare business, Earthwise Girls. Five MPs & peers and the charities Wellbeing of Women and Bloody Good Period have also put their name to a public letter to Victoria Atkins, the Financial Secretary to the Treasury, requesting that period pants are classified as a garment in this year’s Autumn Statement.
