STOCKHOLM - Ahlstrom has received certification for home compostability for its non-heat sealable tea filter product portfolio.
The certification to OK Compost from TÃœV Austria will give customers assurance that non-heat sealable tea filter papers RegTea Green and RegTea TrulyNatural ranges will biodegrade in home composting conditions, leaving behind no toxic residue or microplastics.
“Our business is committed to becoming the market benchmark with the recognized end-of-life certification and to offer customers a complete portfolio of tea and coffee solutions, heat-sealable or non-heat-sealable, certified as either industrially or home compostable,” said Philippe Sevoz, vice president, Ahlstrom’s Beverage and Casing business. “These accreditations help customers in achieving their sustainability goals, whether they are converters or brand owners. This is especially meaningful in the context of preparing for the upcoming packaging and packaging waste regulation in the EU.”
The certification also reinforces Ahlstrom’s offering of biodegradable and renewable fibre-based solutions for beverage applications and complements the formaldehyde-free, industrial compostable certified offering. The products are produced in Chirnside, UK.
