EBERBACH - Nonwovens technology supplier Dilo Group will demonstrate the latest developments for the supply of lines for staple fibre nonwoven fabric production at two major exhibitions over the next few months.
With two flagship exhibitions for the textile and nonwovens industries coming up, Dilo will first exhibit at INDEX in Geneva from April 18 to 21, 2023, followed by ITMA Milan which is scheduled for 8 to 14 June, 2023.
With a range of its technology on show at both exhibitions, the shows will provide an opportunity for Dilo to showcase its latest developments in needling technology while also drawing attention to its latest solutions for the production of environmentally sustainable nonwovens production.
Dilo Group's research and development work traditionally focuses on the construction of production lines for the web forming and needling of staple fibre material. After years of gradual advancements in the intense needling technology, the company says it has now succeeded in achieving the industrial scale of MicroPunch intense needling technology.
Describing the technology, Dilo highlights how the level of abrasion resistance of this intensely needled material allows applications in apparel, artificial leather, battery separators and filter media as well as medical and hygiene nonwovens. "The production of comfort tissues with a weight range of 30 to approx. 60 g/m ² made from fine fibre blends using polyester and viscose has been a domain of the water-entangling technology so far," Dilo. "This product being a typical disposable is in the crossfire regarding sustainability and recyclability. Therefore biodegradable or decomposable fibre material is the target for more environmental sustainability. In addition, for the evaluation of a web consolidation process, low carbon emissions and low energy consumption are important criteria."
The classical needling technology and its qualification for the production of lightweight nonwovens at low cost/kg has been technologically and economically proved after many years of research work, the company says, noting that it has become possible by using an intense concentration of needles in the board and very fine barbs on these speciality needles, which allows for an economic mounting and quick exchange due to a new module design.
Compared to water-entangling lines, Dilo says that the MicroPunch needling line provides a drastic reduction in energy consumption including both electricity and gas and that in view of heavily increased energy costs, this reduced consumption has a great impact on the total cost for a kilogram of finished product.
At INDEX, Dilo will be on booth 2010.
