Tokyo - Spunbond nonwovens producer Asahi Kasei will feature two materials at this March's Index 2020 exhibition.

On show will be the recently developed Ecorise, an environmentally friendly material based on plant-based polylactic acid (PLA), which can be biodegraded and composted under industrial compost conditions.

With properties resulting from Asahi’s unique sheet making technologies, Ecorise offers a number of functions such as superior softness and thermoformability.

Also on show will be Precise, a polyester nonwoven fabric comprising a layer of ultrafine fibres between spunbond fibre layers developed using the company's proprietary technologies.

By combining the characteristics of a spunbond nonwoven fabric with those of ultrafine fibres, Precise has been designed to respond to the needs of a wide range of fields and applications. One benefit, for example, is its ability to drastically increase sound absorbency within the transport industry when laminated on the surface of components. Visitors to the booth will be able to see how Precise can be used as a sound absorber fabric for the automotive sector.

Asahi Kasei has been manufacturing synthetic spunbond nonwoven fabrics for more than 40 years and claims to be the only company offering all three key materials - nylon, polyester, and polypropylene, all featuring pure, binder-free webs with evenly distributed filaments joined by thermocompression bonding.
