BeijingCNITA, the China Nonwovens & Industrial Textiles Association, and global nonwovens association EDANA, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support the joint organisation of the EurAsian Geotextiles Symposium (EAGS) in June 2017 in Beijing, China.

Featuring a conference and an exhibition, the EurAsian Geotextiles Symposium is planned to cover both nonwoven and woven geotextiles, and to encompass the entire value chain, from raw materials to buyers and users of geotextiles, in Greater Europe and Asia.

The symposium will cover best practice specifications for geotextiles, and aims to improve understanding of the market and identify new growth opportunities.

Pierre Wiertz, general manager, EDANA, said: “We are proud to join forces with CNITA to create a unique new event. Together, we will gather all key players in the field of geotextiles. It is natural that this symposium, the first of its kind, will be held in China, one of the most dynamic markets for geotextiles. Our objective is to support the growth of production and deliveries in Eurasia.”

The Asian geotextile market is expected to have the largest demand for geotextiles in the coming few years. Asia Pacific was the largest regional market for geotextiles, accounting for over 43% of global geotextiles consumption in 2013, according to a statement from EDANA.

There is a growing demand for geotextile fabrics in the Asia Pacific region due to large infrastructural projects, and countries including China and India have highlighted geotextiles in their economic plans.

Li Lingshen, president, CNITA, added: “As CNITA we see this cooperation with EDANA as synergistic and beneficial for the entire industry. We look forward to working together to make the EAGS a success, it will be a pleasure to host this event and connect producers of geotextiles with new customers and suppliers.”
