Sandler will complete the construction of its €17 million, 22,750-square-metre Plant 5 at Schwarzenbach in Germany by the end of the year.

It will house a €26 million new production line for hygiene materials – a field in which the company is rapidly expanding. Sandler already has a prominent position in top sheets for baby diapers, sanitary pads, panty liners, tampons, incontinence pads and adult diapers. The new line – featuring an as-yet unspecified technology – will be dedicated to fluid handling, or acquisition and distribution, layers.

Excavations for Plant 5 began in late March. It will be integrated into a comprehensive plant design for the optimisation of goods flows, with a view to enhancing customer service even further, while maintaining a high degree of flexibility and blending in with the overall site.

Meanwhile, the company is also investing €5 million in a new four-storey administration building, the construction of which began late in 2014.

“For more than 135 years we have been closely connected with our Schwarzenbach location and we will continue to invest in the expansion of our competence centre,” said Sandler CEO Christian Heinrich Sandler. “The commissioning of our new production line will create up to 50 new jobs. These investments take us one step further towards the realisation of new textile concepts for the versatile market of hygiene products. Our new plant will enable us to render our processes even more efficient and the new administration building will provide our staff with the best possible work environment.”
