The 1976 US Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) has been described as “the last remaining landmark environmental legislation that hasn’t been amended or reformed.”
Recently, the US Congress has considered a number of bills in relationship to TSCA reform and a revised act is likely to come into force in the next few years. Policy makers and stakeholders, however, remain divided about what final shape it should take.
Speaking at the World of Wipes (WOW) conference currently taking place in Atlanta on Wednesday (June 17th), Jessica Franken, director of government affairs for INDA, said the reforms are likely bring the legislation much closer to the EU’s REACH regulations and shift the burden of responsibility to manufacturers.
