A significant reason for the majority of oil and fuel system failures is the presence of high water levels in dissolved, dispersed and free water.
The filter media fabrics based on the superabsorbent fibre (SAF) manufactured by the UK’s Technical Absorbents (TAL) can remove both dispersed and free water to very low ppm levels at industry leading rates. This results in reduced fuel and oil degradation, and provides the required filter quality for efficient machine operation.
“SAF is a key component for many enhanced nonwoven filter media fabrics that are designed for the removal of water and particulates from aviation fuel, automotive diesel and a wide range of oils,” explains TAL applications development manager Dr Mark Paterson. “These fabrics help reduce problems associated with water contamination. SAF’s versatility gives rise to cost savings over traditional cellulosic-based absorption media, while offering full compliance potential to stringent international filtration standards.”
TAL will be demonstrating how its technology can be used to effectively remove fuels and displaying its SAF fibres and converted nonwoven fabric technologies at Filtech, the largest and most important filtration event worldwide which takes place from February 24-26 at the new venue of Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. The expo is a must for all concerned with designing, improving, purchasing, selling or researching filtration and separation equipment and services and specialists will be on-hand to provide expertise and advice at stand A28, Hall 11.1.
