At the recent EDANA Outlook in Barcelona, Lenzing shared the results of consumer tests using Tencel Biosoft, the ultra-soft hydrophobic Lyocell fibre type, in the top-sheet of incontinence products.
In cooperation with the German company, Hygiene Technologie GmbH, Lenzing conducted a wear test which was analyzed by the Austrian Research Institute, Joanneum Research.
Fifty-three people tested an incontinence product with two top-sheets, the first of 100% polypropylene and the second with Biosoft for four weeks each and the result was unequivocally in the latter’s favour.
The performance of the product itself was given a positive rating, as were the properties which led to a better feeling on the skin.
One point worth mentioning was that when using the Biosoft product the likelihood of sleeping through the night rose quite clearly (by approximately 10%) for those participating since it needed to be changed less frequently due to the additional wear comfort.
“Among otherwise healthy people, the burden of incontinence leads to restrictions in everyday life and each improvement in this situation positively impacts on well-being,” said Elisabeth Stanger, Lenxing’s global director of hygiene, pictured with project manager, Martin Häubl at Outlook 2014.
