Fater Spa will open an absorbent hygiene products recycling plant with an annual capacity of 8,000 tons in Veneto, Italy, at the start of 2015.

This follows the successful pilot project the company has developed over the past few years called Recall, which involves an adapted advanced autoclave process for effectively sterilising used diapers and incontinence products. They are then separated into individual streams of reusable plastics and a combination of cellulose and superabsorbent polymers, both of which have commercial re-use value.
