New and tougher emissions standards for China’s existing power plants come into force this month, which among other things is likely to see a surge in the demand for nonwoven filter media.

The stricter emission standards for sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) came into force for newly-constructed power plants in January 2012, replacing those that had been in effect since 2003. They also apply to the country’s vast iron, steel and cement industries, as well as its coal-fired power plants.
