International Fibres Group (IFG) is currently customising its high performance polypropylene fibre production at Asota in Linz, Austria.
Investments are being made in both production and product development capabilities and a new high performance fibre range will be available from the second half of 2015.
With a strategic move into high performance fibres and investment in state of the art machinery at Asota, IFG believes it will further strengthen its market position and remain at the front-end of R&D in polypropylene staple fibre.
IFG is the leading independent merchant producer of polypropylene staple fibres for the automotive sector as well as for geotextiles, floorcoverings and industrial and textile applications.
It now has four operating plants worldwide – Asota, Drake Extrusion in the UK, Exelto NV, based in Belgium and acquired during 2013, and Drake Extrusion in the US.
IFG is the largest supplier of coloured polypropylene staple fibre to the European market and the largest supplier of coloured polypropylene fibre to the US automotive market. It is also the sole UK manufacturer of coloured polypropylene staple fibre.
In the floorcoverings industry, its fibres are used extensively in tufted and woven products, as well as needlepunched nonwovens.
