Groz-Beckert’s specially-modified Mercedes saloon certainly drew the crowds at last week’s ITMA Asia + CITME textile machinery show in Shanghai.

It demonstrates the many uses for nonwovens and technical textiles in the automotive sector and the company says nonwovens dominate the 35 square metres – 28 kilos – of textile material now employed in such vehicles. This is as a result of higher requirements in respect of comfort and safety and uses are growing all the time. Nonwovens are to be found in the door panels, seats, air conditioning and filters systems, in addition to their use as insulating material.

Groz-Beckert has also recently introduced the new Board Master System for manufacturers of needlepunched nonwovens. Two components make it the ideal solution for more efficient needle board logistics – the fast and efficient NeedleMaster needle inserting system known and BoardScoot, a mechanical wagon for safe transportation of needle boards.

As the world’s leading provider of industrial machine needles, precision parts and fine tools, Groz-Beckert today employs around 8,000 people and has an annual turnover of over €500 million.
