Carpet Recycling UK, the industry-backed association for recycling and reusing waste carpet, has been shortlisted for the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards 2014 in the Waste or Recycling Project of the Year category.

The shortlisting recognises CRUK’s success in beating its original target of 25% landfill diversion of waste carpet by 2015 two years early. This target was set in 2008 when the organisation was launched to tackle the 400,000 tons of waste carpet arising annually in the UK. CRUK is funded by major UK-based carpet manufacturers and distributors who are taking the lead in voluntary producer responsibility.
