  • Welcome to the jungle…

The gecko is known for its unequalled ability to adhere to any surface, but it’s also a master of adaptability – flexible enough to make the most of its constantly changing and challenging environment.

Obviously, says adhesives specialist Bostik, there are things to be learned from the gecko and the following tips are offered to help visitors to next week’s INDEX 14 nonwovens show in Geneva not only survive rapid change, but thrive.

    • Know what’s behind the next leaf. Like the gecko, all your senses must be open to what’s ahead at all times. Fortunately, you have the luxury of partnering with industry thought leaders to aid in identifying new trends as early as possible. The right collaborative relationship can help ensure that you’re designing products that will successfully meet the next new demand.
    • Speed counts. Just as a gecko must be fast to survive, organisations that can respond rapidly will dominate. This requires continuous review of how operational efficiencies can be improved, whether it’s in increments or in quantum leaps. Be ready to adapt to breakthroughs – especially in materials, adhesives and technology – which allow you to get more done faster without losing quality.
    • Employ evolutionary thinking.  In the business ‘jungle’, changes in substrates, technology and consumer demands can each set off a chain reaction of alterations that need to be made in other production elements to ensure ongoing quality performance. This requires system layouts and processes that are easily adaptable, as well as agile suppliers with products suitable for a variety of needs, such as robust adhesives that work across a wide range of applications and substrates.
    • Take chances...within limits. Even geckos approach a new surface cautiously before trusting their superior adhesive abilities to move them across it safely. Effective testing provides the confidence that a new product will perform, and helps get it to market faster and more successfully. Forward-thinking suppliers will have the flexibility and expertise to offer innovative solutions to enhance your new product designs, as well as the technology to test in a manufacturing environment like your own.

Learn how Bostik adhesive solutions are creating evolutionary change within the disposable hygiene industry at INDEX 14.
