Fibertex Nonwovens is planning a €95 million expansion at its plant in Svitavy in the Czech Republic which will create 45 new jobs.

The Czech operation, founded back in 1949 as Vigona, was restructured in 2000 to specialise in technical nonwovens for the automotive, furniture, construction, clothing and footwear and industrial filtration sectors. It was taken over by Fibertex four years later and expanded with a new line in 2005.

Fibretex Nonwovens achieved sales of DKK 93 million in 2013, up 3.5% on 2012, while operating profit climbed from DKK 28 million in 2012 to DKK 37 million last year.

Sister company Fibertex Personal Care, which supplies the global hygiene market, increased its 2013 revenue by 7% to DKK 1,544 million and reports that the third spunmelt line at its plant in Malaysia was successfully started up on time at the end of the year. The company also runs three lines in Denmark and the focus in 2014 will be on optimising all production capacities.
