lycInvista will start up a new production line in Shanghai, China, designed to specifically produce T837 Lycra HyFit fibre in response to the growing global demand for nonwoven hygiene products. In addition, Invista is planning two projects at its Paulina, Brazil, facility to add capacity and introduce regional production of T837 Lycra HyFit fibre by October 2013.

Unlike any previous version of Lycra, T837simultaneously reduces fibre-to-fibre tack without negatively impacting creep performance. A patent application has been granted for this technology. By the end of 2013, Invista will have local production of T837 in four regions, making it easily accessible no matter the location.

“The additional production capability for T837 demonstrates our commitment to the hygiene industry,” said Robert van de Kerkhof, global vice president of Invista Stretch Performance Materials. “We will continue to evaluate further investments in both capacity and innovation to meet the needs of our customers worldwide.”
