homeOver 45% of all diaper sales in South Korea are now over the internet.

This interesting nugget was observed by Ian Bell of Euromonitor in his paper ‘Pan-Pacific Retail Nonwovens’ presented at INDA’s IDEA Conference in Miami on April 23rd.

The phenomenon is largely down to the success of the Happy Hour Plus booths in subway stations and shopping centres, at which quick response codes can be snapped by busy commuters on phones for immediate one-click orders.

The closest any other nation comes to this is in the US, where the internet accounts for just 4.5% of diaper sales, but then South Korea is the world leader in internet connectivity and speed, following government policies and programmes which have seen a rapid expansion and use of broadband.
