Fibre and filament producer Trevira is intensifying its activities in the field of technical textiles and at this year’s Techtextil show in Frankfurt will be showcasing a wide range of products for the nonwovens industry.
With a focus on customer-specific product developments the company’s standard short-cut fibres for airlaid and wetlaid application has been expanded with flame retardant types, while an extensive bico range includes PET/PE, PET/Co-PET and PET/PBT combinations. In core-sheath form, these are used primarily in the manufacture of thermally bonded nonwovens for the automotive sector, for insulation and filtration materials and also for hygiene products.
In the drive for more ecological solutions, the company has developed a PET/PE fibre with la ow melting point which saves energy during processing and/or allows a higher operational throughput. In addition, the company’s PLA range for a variety of technical applications has been extended and now includes a PLA/PLA bico fibre that is currently at the commercialisation stage.
At Trevira headquarters in Bobingen work is proceeding on the development of a concept for recycling Trevira products.
