suA three-year sustainability programme encompassing raw materials, production, distribution and end-users has been established at Suominen’s Codi Wipes.

Goals include that by 2015 more than half of the operation’s fibres will come from recycled materials, along with more than 10% of films and more than 80% of board packages will also be FSC or PEFC certified.

Production targets include zero lost-time injuries, reducing waste volumes by 50% and reducing water and energy consumption by 30% per produced package.

In transport, the goal is to minimise the carbon footprint of deliveries and the target of a more than 20% reduction in CO2 emissions per ton-km has been set.

Consumers will be brought into the equation by the provision of information on how to use products correctly and to dispose of them appropriately.
