heliAs part of a drive to open up the use of its fibres in new technical applications, in addition to their already extensive use in wipes, Lenzing’s nonwovens business has recently installed a new pilot facility at its plant in Heilgenkreuz, Austria.

“The pilot plant aims to bring promising laboratory results to a new level, and optimise new fibre solutions, especially for technical applications in the field of energy storage, explained project manager Gisela Goldhalm, adding that initial research results had now been presented.

“The technical segment is particularly important to us as a means of compensating for cyclical fluctuations in other businesses such as hygiene,” added Wolfgang Plasser, vice president and general manager of Lenzing’s Nonwoven Fibers business unit. “Our innovation focus is on future-oriented technologies, and we are continually striving to expand our product portfolio in this direction.”
