Following the initial success of Knowaste in the UK, Italy now has its first recycling plant for absorbent hygiene products (AHPs) in place, and France could be next.
The new trial Italian plant is situated in the north of the country at Comune di Ponte nelle Alpi and has been set up at the Vedelago recycling centre, which already handles the waste of over 1.2 million inhabitants in the provinces of Treviso and Belluno.
