The European Agrocomposite Conference takes place over two days from November 22-23 in Aisne, northern France this year, with an extended programme reflecting a rapidly-growing industry.
In 2010 this market - which employs a range of natural fibre nonwovens as the basis for composite products - was valued at US$2.1 billion dollars and has grown 15% each year over the last five years, stimulated by demand from the automotive and construction sectors. At an estimated annual growth rate of 10% from 2012, this market is anticipated to be worth $3.8 billon by 2016.
As a major player in the agrocomposites sector, CELC (the European Confederation of Flax & Hemp) is working in partnership for this event with the Aisne CCI in France, which first launched the conference in 2007.
Day One will consist of a varied programme of presentations, technical workshops and business meetings alongside round-table discussions involving renowned European industrialists including Eurocopter-Group EADS, Lineo, nonwovens manufacturer Norafin, Inra and Sicomin. A translation service will be available for all conference sessions.
Day Two will include visits to two technical centres in and around Amiens – a plant and agroplastics biorefinery and the regional centre for sustainable building and eco materials.
