Autoneum (formerly Rieter Automotive) has announced a strategic joint development agreement with two Japanese companies – Nittoku (Nihon Tokushu Toryo) and Toyota Boshoku, both headquartered in Tokyo.
The agreement centres on the development of new lightweight interior acoutsic systems, largely based on nonwovens and similar materials, and particularly in respect of hybrid cars that promise growth potential.
The key benefit of the cooperation, the companies say, lies in a ‘full systems approach’ drawing on the the specific expertise and collective innovation power of all three parties in respect of acoustic and thermal competences in materials technology to enable significant noise and vibration reduction with various products to be achieved. Interior systems including headlining and door trim, carpet and dash silencer, damping, engine encapsulation and under-body solutions will all be optimised to serve the automotive industry worldwide.
Toyota Boshoku is an interior systems supplier developing and manufacturing seats and interior trims. Autoneum and Nittoku have been strong partners for decades, providing Japanese car manufacturers globally with lightweight solutions for noise reduction and thermal management.
