inJapan’s Teijin Group is promoting its Elk and V-Lap cushioning materials at Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, Asia’s largest home textile trade fair, which is taking place this week (August 28 to 30).

The high-performance, environmentally friendly materials are suitable both as mattresses and indoor/outdoor cushions for sofas and pillows. Elk is a polyurethane-alternative polyester cushioning material and V-Lap a vertically lapped nonwoven. Both are made with Ecopet polyester made from recycled PET bottles.

Elk is lightweight, durable and breathable and does not yellow easily, making it an excellent substitute for urethane in a range of cushioning applications. It also does not generate cyanogen gas when incinerated.

V-Lap is voluminous yet lightweight, highly breathable, highly malleable and easy to mould, making it a superior material for cushioning applications.

Teijin is also exhibiting high-performance polyester filling materials which  offer various competitive features, including tick-proof, antibacterial, antibromic, sweat-absorbent and heat-retentive properties.
