    quixWhile traditionally, down was the preferred insulation of choice for cold weather clothing, synthetic-fibre based nonwovens have proven their superiority in heat retention and breathability for many years now.

    They are also better in situations where clothing is likely to get damp, either from the weather or from sweat.

    However, a new development by Toray of Japan suggests it may not be wise for nonwovens manufacturers in this field to rest on their laurels.
