Fibre prices for nonwovens remain significantly higher than those for textiles, reports cellulosics leader Lenzing, which in the first nine months of this year has increased its sales by 23.9% to €1,592 million.
Following a very strong first half of the year, the world fibre market has weakened over the past three months, the company reports, primarily due to pipeline effects along the textile chain and seasonal factors, along with uncertainty in respect of the global economy.
Volume demand remained very favorable until the end of the third quarter, but the fibre market no longer showed signs of overheating, as it had in the second quarter.
Record high fibre price levels in the first half of 2011 were followed by an anticipated price decline for standard viscose up until the end of July and slightly rising prices until mid-October.
